360° in Kichijoji’s Harmonica street-eats alley (吉祥寺のハーモニカ横丁)

Also located on the north side of Kichijoji station is the famous ハーモニカ横丁 (Harmonica alley). In Japan, there are many places called something-something-alley, but don’t worry, these places are far from shady. Instead, you’ll find them to be full of small but well-managed, clean, and tasty food stalls/shops that have a nostalgic 昭和 (Showa-era) feel to them.

The following is a non-exhaustive list of the kinds of foods you’ll find in Harmonica yokocho:

  • Italian
  • Ramen
  • Thai
  • Sushi
  • Irish pub
  • German pub
  • Izakaya (Japanese pub)
