360° of Nakano Sun Mall shopping strip (中野サンモール商店街)

On the north side of 中野駅 (Nakano Station) is 中野サンモール商店街 (Nakano Sun Mall shotengai), a strip of shops that leads to the famous Nakano Broadway, a building with lots of small shops and restaurants that has a reputation as a sort of new Mecca for オタク (otaku).

When we first moved to Tokyo, this was the first 商店街 (shoutengai, which typically means a covered shopping street) we encountered. This shopping strip is a bit on the short side but is nonetheless filled with apparel shops, sushi joints, ramen shops, fast food restaurants, and shoe stores.

It’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in Tokyo. If you do decide to go though, be aware that the place is a lot more lively on the weekend (this was filmed on a weekday).
